A useful starting point. An honest one.
The starting catalog combines licensed discovery lists with dated checks of publisher pages. It gives you places to investigate, not a list of proven winners.
What a sourced listing means.
For imported listings, an automated check reads a public publisher page, matches product identity, and looks for a description of its AI purpose. A person has not necessarily tested the product or reviewed every description. A reachable page does not establish quality, safety, pricing, or current availability to every user.
Descriptions may contain a short, clearly attributed publisher excerpt. Promotional language belongs to that publisher. Unknown plans, prices, and versions stay unknown. Listings do not receive a performance finding merely because they have sources.
What people have said elsewhere.
External comments remain external. We show brief opening excerpts from public Hacker News discussions that link to the same product URL, with the author’s public handle, publication date, and links to the full comment and thread. These are not Fact vs Hype accounts, submitted reviews, verified purchases, or independent replications.
The collection searches up to 30 matching stories, checks up to three of the most recent exact product links, and keeps at most two excerpts per product. Within each thread it chooses the most recent eligible top-level comment containing an expression of personal experience or opinion. Sentiment and votes do not determine selection. Comments containing contact information, links, explicit self-promotion, or certain abusive allegations are excluded. This narrow sample is incomplete and may miss recent discussions or important qualifications.
Before publication, a separate AI review checks the full comment and its thread’s product link for product identity, disclosed affiliation, and context lost by the excerpt. Changed or deleted source comments are withheld when a catalog refresh runs. This review is not verification of the author or their experience, and does not replace reading the source.
Read the full comment before drawing a conclusion. Product use, identity, and affiliations are unverified. Old discussions may describe another version or plan. An empty section means no eligible excerpt was collected; it does not mean nobody has an opinion. External excerpts are excluded from community counts, findings, and ranking.
Discovery credits & licenses.
Discovery names and URLs were filtered, deduplicated, categorized, and checked against publisher pages. Upstream rankings and verification badges were discarded. These sources and their authors do not endorse Fact vs Hype.
